Recommended Reads Lists

NoveList’s Recommended Reads lists are ready-made lists of book recommendations that cover a wide range of genres and topics at all reading levels. They are compiled by experienced librarians and literature specialists using a variety of reviewing sources. Each has approximately 20 titles grouped by sub-genre or topic and is updated at least yearly.

  • Find your next book to read on a specific topic or in your favorite genre.
  • Find similar titles by looking at the subject headings for each title in NoveList Plus.

Recommended Reads lists are located on the left side of the homepage directly below the NoveList Plus logo. These lists will be organized by genre/topic, reading level, and fiction/nonfiction.

To find lists for a specific audience, select the appropriate reading level from the links under the Fiction/Nonfiction tabs. Use the Fiction/Nonfiction tabs at the top to view lists for fiction or nonfiction books.

Clicking on any of the genre or topic links will open a pop-up of available lists for the age group selected.

Selecting the list link from the pop-up will display a Recommended Reads list of 18-20 selected titles. The list title is displayed at the top of the list, along with a description. The list will be below these details, presented in grid view. As with other result lists in NoveList Plus, you can select from Grid, Compact, Brief, or Detailed view to display and print your list in the format most useful.

In the right hand column, additional Recommended Reads lists within the selected genre/topic are presented so that you can easily browse lists within a single genre or topic.

Below this is the “Related Content” section, where you’ll find links to other NoveList Plus content related to that Recommended Reads List.

Recommended Reads will also be presented in the Result List of your NoveList Plus searches. If any lists match your search criteria, you’ll find related Recommended Reads lists under the Lists & Articles tab of your Result List.

If you wish to print a Recommended Reads list, clicking on the Print icon above the list title and details will print:

  • List title
  • List description
  • Additional list details
  • List of books

Clicking the Print icon above the list of books will print the list as you see it on your screen; changing the view will also change the print format.
