Our Easton Area Public Library patrons have direct access to more items than ever before.

How many items? Over 1.4 MILLION and counting!

 

HOW OUR PARTNERSHIPS CAME TO BE

For more than a decade, the Easton Area Public Library (EAPL) has been a part of the Lehigh Valley Library System, sharing resources such as books and DVDs with both the Allentown Public Library and the Bethlehem Area Public Library. Daily deliveries continue to save our patrons a trip down Interstate 22 to borrow items from our Lehigh Valley neighbors.

Direct access to even more resources began in April 2023 when the Monroe-Easton-Bangor Library Group was established. The formation of this group brought all libraries between Easton and the Pocono Mountains together, connecting them to the Lehigh Valley like never before. A team of dedicated delivery drivers makes trips into the mountains, bringing items from the Poconos to the Valley on a daily basis.

Our direct resource sharing reach extended again in 2024. In April, the Lehigh Carbon Library Cooperative (LCLC) joined the Allentown Public Library to begin sharing items with them and the larger Lehigh Valley Library System. LCLC, established in mid-2018 when 11 Lehigh and Carbon County libraries began sharing resources between their organizations, changed the library landscape in the western part of the Lehigh Valley. We couldn’t be more excited to have them as a part of our growing list of partner libraries!

Together, thanks to partnerships with all of the organizations listed below, we’re proud to offer our patrons unprecedented access to an incredible number of items—more than 1.4 MILLION—from across the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos. We can’t wait to see what the future holds and which libraries we’ll begin resource sharing with next!

Borrowing resources from our partner libraries couldn’t be easier! All you need to do is search our online catalog, place a hold, and wait for us to contact you when your item arrives. Most items arrive within three business days so keep your library card handy. And as always, we’re here to help!
