Getting Started with Hoopla: Home

Summary

Hoopla is a digital resource which provides access to borrow audiobooks, eBooks, comics and manga, music, movies, TV, and more, all for free with your EAPL library card!

App Available!

Search for "Hoopla" in your app store to install on your device. Log in with your account once the app is installed.
 

Creating your account

  • Using a web browser, go to the Library's Hoopla landing page and click the "Access Database" button.
  • Click on the "Get Started" button, and Hoopla will guide you through the steps to create a new account.

  • Choose Easton Area Public Library when prompted to find your library, entered your library card number, enter your email and a chosen password, and click on "Complete Registration".
    • Tip: write down your username and password somewhere safe to remember them, save them to a browser password manager, or use a password manager app to help keep your username and passwords organized!
  • You've signed up! You should receive a "Welcome to Hoopla" email.

Finding Items

  • There are multiple ways to find or browse for items:
    • Browse around the home screen to see popular and trending items.
    • Click on the "Browse" drop-down menu to browse specific categories (audiobooks, eBooks, movies, etc.)
    • Search for a specific item using the search bar. You can also narrow down your search to categories (audiobooks, eBooks, movies, etc.) using the drop-down menu next to the search bar.

Borrowing Content

  • When you find an item you'd like to borrow, click on the "Borrow" button underneath the item image.

  • You must confirm you'd like to borrow the title, and once confirmed the item will be available to read or watch.

  • If you are using the Hoopla app on a mobile device, the item will be available to download to your device.

 

  • You can view all of your currently borrowed items at any time by clicking on the "My Hoopla" button under "Currently Borrowed".
  • Items will automatically be returned at the end of their lending period.
  • EAPL patrons are able to borrow 5 titles per month on Hoopla.
