Getting Started with Kanopy: Home

Summary

Kanopy is a video streaming service where patrons can watch movies, documentaries, foreign films, classic cinema, independent films and educational videos. The videos can be enjoyed on your TV, mobile phones, tablets, and online.

Patrons get 20 tickets to use on streaming videos each month. The ticket cost and loan period are both based on the length of the video.

Mobile and TV App Available!

Search for "Kanopy" in your app store to install on your device. Log in with your account once the app is installed.

Creating your account

• Using a web browser, go to the Library's Kanopy landing page and click the "Access Database" button.
• Click on "Get Started" to begin creating your Kanopy account.
• Step 1: select "Find your library".

• Step 2: to find Easton Area Public Library, share your location when prompted or search for the library by name, city, or zip code. Select Easton Area Public Library from the list or map, then click Select this library.

• Step 3: enter your library card number, then click "continue".

• Step 4: create your Kanopy account: 
  • Enter your name and email address, create a password, then select Sign up.
    • Tip: write down your username and password somewhere safe to remember them, save them to a browser password manager, or use a password manager app to help keep your username and passwords organized!
  • Or, sign up with an existing Apple or Google account by selecting Sign Up with Apple or Sign Up with Google and following the instructions.

Browsing and Searching for Films

• To browse categories of films, hover over Browse at the top of the page on the website, or tap Browse in the bottom navigation bar of the mobile app. Then, select a category to browse shelves with that theme.

• To search for a specific film, or specific film topic, select Search at the top of the Kanopy homepage (on the Kanopy website) or in the bottom navigation bar (on the Kanopy mobile app) and search by title or keyword. Select a suggested search at the top of the results to see related titles.

Watching Films

• On the film title's details page, it will show you information about the film including how many tickets the film uses, and how long you will have access to the film.
  • Each month, you will have 20 tickets as an EAPL patron to use on films. The tickets do not carry over into a new month.

• When you find a title that you'd like to watch, click Play or Watch Now on the title's details page to open the video player. Or click the + button to "Add to Watchlist" to watch later.
