Getting Started with MasterFile Premier: Home

Summary

MasterFILE Premier contains full text for general reference magazines and publications covering a wide range of subject areas including business, health, education, general science and multicultural issues. It also includes an extensive image collection of more than 2 million photos, maps and flags. Content includes over 1,500 full-text magazines and journals and over 55,000 full-text primary source documents.

Signing In

  • Using a web browser, go to the Library's MasterFile Premier landing page and click the "Access Database" button.
  • To access MasterFile Premier, you will be prompted to sign in with your EAPL library card number. Enter your library card number, then click the "Sign In" button.

Searching in MasterFile Premier:  

  • To perform a basic search in MasterFile Premier, enter a word or phrase using the default search bar. As you type, popular searches will pop up below the search bar as suggestions. 
  • You can filter your basic search by choosing "Online Full Text", "Peer reviewed", or choosing a time frame from the options listed below the search box.

  • To perform an advanced search, click on the Advanced search option below the basic search bar. Advanced search gives you options to choose multiple search terms at once, filter your results by date range, full text, and peer review, as well as choose specific publications and subjects.

  • Click on an items in your results list to view the record and see the publication details. Click "Access Now (Online full text)" to view the full text article online, or click "Download" to download a PDF file of the full text article to your device. Use the small icons in the upper righthand corner of the record to download, save, print, or create a citation for the selected article.

Setting up a Personal Account

  • To create your own dashboard, use MasterFile premier's project function, save articles for future use, or see your past searches, you must register for a free account with EBSCO. To create an account, click on "MyEBSCO" in the upper righthand corner of the MasterFile Premier screen and then click "Create an account".

  • To create an account, you will be asked to enter your first and last name, an email address, and a password. You will use your entered email address and password to sign into MyEBSCO going forward.
    • Tip: write down your username and password somewhere safe to remember them, save them to a browser password manager, or use a password manager app to help keep your username and passwords organized!
